Digital Transformation & DXP Integration

9thCO transformed Guild's website from legacy Wordpress to a modern composable stack, enhancing web accessibility and performance, while integrating Uniform DXP with Segment for account-level personalization.

The Challenge

The client sought a web development partner to assist with the upkeep of a poorly implemented headless WordPress solution with a Next.js frontend. There was code bloat and overengineered solutions that caused the site to load slowly. Unoptimized animations and image loading patterns also contributed to the poor performance. Unplanned content schema and modeling contributed to bad content editing experience and low component reusability. Additionally, the client had performed a web accessibility audit and required an agency with in-depth web accessibility knowledge and remediation experience.

The client was also looking for more than an agency, but truly a solutions partner to advise and assist them on their long-term development roadmap.

The Solution

9thCO built trust and developed confidence with the client by:

  • Remediating all possible web accessibility issues, allowing the client to meet WCAG 2.1 conformance and obtain their VPAT certification.

  • Optimizing the codebase and CMS content modeling to improve client editing experience and site performance according to 9thCO principles and best practices, improving overall Core Web Vital metrics.

  • Once the client hit the limits of Wordpress, 9thCO recommended Storyblok as the replacement CMS for their enterprise-level needs.

  • Leveraging years of experience developing content models and schema patterns, 9thCO helped the client migrate all existing content, media assets, and tagging taxonomies through automation. 9thCO also recreated CMS functionalities inside of Storyblok while still keeping true to Storyblok’s content modeling paradigm. This resulted in increased content editor productivity and ease of reusing flexible components to accomplish various content display purposes

  • Rebuilding the website front-end using the newest version of Next.js with best practices that led to future scalability.

  • Integrating Uniform DXP to allow for persona and account level personalization through CDP (Twilio Segment).

For the past two years, 9thCO has been our strategic development partner. Not only did they provide expert consultation to help us meet and maintain WCAG standards, they also consulted on an upgrade path for our entire web stack and then successfully performed the implementation and migration under extremely tight deadlines.
